Tendinitis is an inflammation or irritation of a tendon, a thick cord that attaches bone to muscle. Injury to the tendon can occur from repetitive movements or from a sudden, more serious injury. Common treatments involve avoiding activities that aggravate the problem or resting the injured area, applying ice to the injured area, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, and others.
